Shingeki no kyojin「進撃の巨人」(Attack on Titan) creator Hajime Isayama revealed in an interview with white-screen.jp that although he had an ending planned when the series began, there is a possibility that the finalized ending might be different, due to new characters and settings. He also added that he has been thinking of creating an ending where everyone died , but after gaining so many fans after the airing of the anime, he is wavering over whether he should betray his fans in such a way. He told white-screen.jp that he wants to betray his fans, he is unsure of whether he should do it.
I think I can verify that the lower picture, that’s supposed to be Eren’s eye, was already displayed in the anime when Eren was dreaming. He literally dreamt about his entire life including his own death. But what I don’t understand is why on earth would mangaka Hajime Isayama expose the ending already now? It’s too suspicious and honestly I want it changed in order to keep watching the show.
no okay can i just talk about this for a minute (or several?) like, I honestly have no idea what kind of ending I would be okay with at this point. I mean, given the nature of the series, it would make sense to kill everyone - the titans continue to breach the walls, and eventually humanity ceases to exists.
BUT - it’s clear that Armin is the fucking narrator in the anime, so he has to have survived right? To tell the goddamn story. Not to mention he’s not pictured up there (though to be fair there are a few others missing as well. Whether they live/died at a different point in time is unknown)
Another option is a happier ending. The titans are dealt with, humanity can expand its territory, Eren/Mikasa/Armin get to see the ocean, etc.
I feel like both of these choices could be a cop-out in a way. Either total destruction/all hope is lost or everything’s sunshine and rainbows.
So what’s left?
I guess kill some characters and leave others alive - but no matter how Isayama does it there’s going to be people that are unhappy (if he were to kill off their favorite character/s and whatnot)
Also - there’s still so many questions/things left unanswered. But we don’t know if Isayama planned to resolve any of them before killing off the characters, so I don’t know. But still - who’s the beast titan? Why can he speak? What role to Reiner, Bertoldt, and Annie play? What about Ymir and the Reiss family? Where the hell is Grisha? WHAT THE FUCK IS IN THE DAMN BASEMENT? What’s this coordinate stuff about? If any/all of these get answered and everyone still dies, then their sacrifices would be in vain.
I’m so conflicted about this, I can’t imagine being in Isayama’s shoes with figuring out where to go with the plot. I don’t remember the last time a series has seriously fucked with me the way SNK does.
I DON’T EVEN KNOW ANYMORE SNK HAS ME EMOTIONALLY COMPROMISED AND I NEED SOMEONE TO TALK TO WHAT THE FUCK HAS THIS SERIES DONE TO ME ;A;
